PROF CAMERON'S TALK

Assalamualaikum..

Actually, i didn't have the opportunity to go for the talk given by Prof Cameron. However, when I read about it elsewhere, I found a lot of new things.

If i'm not mistaken, he talked about the historical of human communication, the differences between face to face communication and internet-based communication.

He also discussed about how internet became the key to the global community plus something on the virtual communities and the roles of the imagination and culture in these communities.

Frankly, I do learn through a virtual phase with my friends even though we haven't met or being introduced formally before. Web 2.0 is something useful and interesting for me since it deals with business of education, learning/teaching through contact with other parties and so on. I would say that it is what most learners use and apply in their daily lives.

For example, we share information in blogs, run a business online by selling books or other otes, we text each other in Friendster, Facebook, Flixter so on. It means that we can discuss things not only in certain groups of people in the same area, but its worldwide. I gain lots of knowledge in terms of education by this kind of approach. To its simplest, it is actually something like collaborative, peer or group learning, but the difference is it is virtual yet very interesting.

As far as lifelong learning is concern, we can gain or benefit much things by social networking as we share information, get in touch with others and it really helps us in learning besides of maintaining the relationship.

Instead of getting information from once source, they can receive their information from multiple sources, and this will allow them to be a well informed person; therefore, they can make better decisions about the world around them.
